Vacations

These are pictures from our vacations. So Far, I have our 25th anniversary trip and our trip to North Carolina from 2005.

Our anniversary trip went through the Black Hills to Devil’s Tower around Glacier National Park then through Yellowstone and back home. Long trip - good time.

The trip to North Carolina happened just as hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. We endured a minor hardship, rising gas prices and availability, compared to what the people suffered on the Gulf Coast. Prices climbed as we stopped at stations. We pulled into a station in Tennessee with a posted price of $2.50 a gallon. While we were filling up the Suburban (42 gallon tank), one of the employees went and changed the price to $2.85 a gallon. As we approached Raleigh, we pulled off the Interstate to take a little break and there were signs that stations didn’t have gas. Some stations in North Carolina had limits on how much gas you could purchase. By the time we left it was over $3.00 a gallon. Not what we had planned, but in the long run, it didn’t add that much to the trip. It was just the shock. But, again, it’s nothing compared to those who lost homes and family.
